Green River's Whiskey Row outpost, opened in 2025, is one of the more interesting new arrivals on West Main. This is a tasting room, not a production site: the whiskey is distilled at the brand's home plant in Owensboro, out in Western Kentucky.

Green River has been making well-regarded whiskey for years, but until 2025 it had no flagship presence in Louisville. This Whiskey Row tasting room fixes that. It sits at 714 W Main, in the middle of the densest stretch of the walk, with Pursuit Spirits next door and Bardstown Bourbon Company's tasting room a few steps west.
Nothing is distilled here. The stills, the rickhouses, and the production floor are all at Green River's home plant in Owensboro, about two hours west. What you get on Main Street is the front of house, and they have made it worth the stop rather than treating it as a showroom.
The room is built around a horseshoe-shaped bar, with a retail section off to the side that will engrave a bottle for you while you drink. There is also a hidden speakeasy entrance, which is worth finding.

Fill a jug straight from a barrel at barrel strength. This is the thing to do here, and it is the kind of thing a standard distillery tour cannot offer you. The experience itself is $15 per person. Taking a bottle home costs extra on top of that, and what you can fill depends on what is open at the time, so treat the barrel on offer as part of the luck of the visit rather than something to plan around.

It sits mid-block on West Main, which makes it an easy drop-in between the bigger Whiskey Row stops rather than something you need to schedule around. One thing to plan for: it is closed Sunday and Monday, so a weekend-tail or Monday walk down West Main will find the doors shut. Tuesday through Saturday it is open 11 AM to 7 PM, which also means it closes before dinner rather than running late.
The retail section is a real part of the visit rather than an afterthought, largely because of the engraving. Get your name on a bottle: at minimum, that is the souvenir to walk out with.
Green River finally has the Louisville flagship its whiskey has deserved for years, and the smartest thing about it is how little it asks of you: no reservation, rarely a wait, and a mid-block spot on West Main you can drop into between the bigger stops. The Fill-Your-Spirits barrel pour is the reason to come, and it is the one thing here you genuinely cannot get on a standard distillery tour. Be clear on what this is, though: a bar and a retail room, not a production stop. It rounds out a Whiskey Row day rather than replacing a tour on it, and if you want to see how the whiskey is actually made, that trip is out to Owensboro. Stop in for a pour, and at minimum get your name on a bottle.
